Former television presenter and politician Carlo Strijk has died at the age of 59. Niels Jens Uitvaartzorg informed the ANP on behalf of the family. Strijk died in his sleep last week.
Strijk was known as a presenter for programs such as Heartbreakers on RTL 5 and de BankGiro Lottery Show of the Tros. Later he was also politically active. In 2006, Strijk stood as a candidate as party leader for D66. Ultimately, that party leadership went to Alexander Pechtold.
Strijk later joined Rita Verdonk’s Proud of the Netherlands (TON) party. He was also number 2 in the Democratic Political Turning Point (DPK) of former PVV member Hero Brinkman, after his party merged with TON. In 2012, Strijk left the party.
His farewell will take place in private.
