RTL denies that Renze Klamer is misbehaving behind the scenes in a Matthijs van Nieuwkerk-like manner, but Johan Derksen’s sources insist. “He radiates terror there.”
Renze Klamer’s image is under pressure. On the one hand, he is incessantly bashed by direct colleagues Beau van Erven Dorens and Renze Klamer and on the other hand, Johan Derksen is now using sources that paint a pitch-black picture of the presenter. He would be some kind of TV terrorist and not the good boy we see on TV.
Not amused
Wilfred Genee states that former VI boss Peter Lubbers, who now holds sway at RTL as successor to Peter van der Vorst, not amused is. “I received a call this morning from the new director of RTL: Peter Lubbers. He said: ‘I wasn’t very happy with what Johan said last night. It’s not right,’” he says in Today Inside.
“He says: ‘Because Renze is in a really good position, the editors are very happy with him and I am also very good with him and I have a lot of confidence in the new season with Renze. I just wanted to put that right.’”
Statement
RTL even issued a whole statement to protect Renze. “I don’t know if that was completely necessary,” says Wilfred.
Johan then: “Peter has done what he had to do and that is stand up for his people, but I have two very good sources. People who are very familiar with that. They say: ‘It went from bad to worse.’ I was very surprised by it.”
He continues: “I don’t know Renze personally, but I see him on TV. An excellent presenter and he seems like a nice guy, so I was very surprised that he radiates such terror there. I received an email from my source this morning…”
What does source say?
Johan then takes his iPhone from his pocket. “I wouldn’t show it. Oh, you want to read it out loud? Then the cameraman doesn’t have to zoom in,” says Wilfred.
The source: “I have heard it from several sources and really from reliable sources. It’s nice that you kept my name out of it, because there is no point in bullshit and no further interest. I have also sat at the table with him and he was a nice guy, but apparently a different face behind the scenes.”
‘No way’
It really doesn’t just come from those sources, says Johan. “Wilfred heard the same sounds and that’s just the way it is. They are very reliable people who reported that.”
The VI mustache continues: “Of course, when De Telegraaf calls, Peter Lubbers, who is there now, is going to say: ‘No way’, because they are happy that they are done with that bullshit with Beau and Humberto, and now they have bullshit again with the new one, but when I hear that, I just say it.”
Too bad
What is Renze doing wrong? Johan: “He is too miserable to say hello, he comes in late with a make-up artist, he goes into a cage with them, they lock themselves in, he doesn’t prepare himself, he just reads the topics and then sits down without a trace.”
Wilfred: “What I understood is that there was also another offer.”
Renze remains an excellent presenter, says Johan, but: “If it is a jerk, then we can say so.”
