After two Tours (won ahead of Pogacar) and a Vuelta, the Dane debuts in the Italian event as favorite to become the eighth phenomenon capable of triumphing in the three major stage races
If there is an occasion for which it is not an exaggeration to mention the concept of history, it is this. Because a Dane has never won the Giro d’Italia in a popular novel that began in 1909, and this is what Jonas Vingegaard, the favorite of this edition, intends to do. And because, if he succeeded, he would become the eighth ever to have won the triple crown: it does not exist in nature, but it is extremely precious. Those who are capable of excelling in the Giro, Tour and Vuelta ideally put it in their heads. Vingegaard, twice king in France and once in Spain, can stand alongside Jacques Anquetil, Felice Gimondi, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali and Chris Froome. The pink race is upon us (starting on Friday 8 May from Nessebar, Bulgaria) and, in ten words/places/people/curiosities, we will try to take you into the world of Danish.
