The start to the Miami race weekend is extremely unfavorable for Aston Martin. Even a significant change will not benefit the team.

The next setback for Aston Martin in an already chaotic 2026 season. The team around the two drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll has scored zero points so far and is therefore at the bottom of both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships. the car is causing problems, the drivers complained repeatedly.

The race weekend in Miami – after a good month’s break due to the canceled races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to the Iran war – should bring a kind of new start for the traditional British racing team. But there was a breakdown in the garage during free practice on Friday.

The team’s power went out at the beginning. In the garage, the screens remain dark and processes come to a standstill. It was only after about half an hour that the problem was resolved and Alonso and Stroll were able to get on the track.

And things didn’t go well on the course in the Florida metropolis either: Alonso finished training in 19th place, while teammate Stroll came last. The Canadian also attracted negative attention several times. First he hindered Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, then later he clashed with Cadillac driver Sergio Pérez. The Mexican then radioed into the pits in annoyance: “Could you tell Lance that his car has wing mirrors?”

The only free practice session for the Miami Grand Prix (Sunday from 10 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) was extended from 60 minutes to 90 minutes due to the numerous innovations in the current season. For Aston Martin, however, the longer period also meant unexpected problems.
