BC Marburg lost the final of the German basketball championship. In game four of the final series, the Hessians held their own against Keltern for a long time, but were left behind in the end.
It should have been the first German championship since 2003, but now the Bundesliga handball players from BC Marburg are left empty-handed. On Friday afternoon, the Hessians lost game four of the final series of the playoffs in the Basketball Bundesliga against Keltern 62:73. With the third victory in the series played in best-of-five mode, Keltern took the crown, with BC only remaining runner-up.
In an intense game, the Hessians quickly fell behind and chased after it from then on. But the Marburgers showed morale and fought their way back as the game progressed. The fourth quarter in particular was like a thriller, as BC suddenly came within a few points of striking distance again.
A comeback that ultimately remained unfinished against the favored defending champions from Keltern, who had finished the main round in first place. Also because the guests took control of the action again in good time and distanced the BC again. And so in the end there remains a final series without a title for the Marburg women, but with the knowledge that they have given the top team from Keltern a real fight. What the fans in the Georg-Gaßmann-Halle also gave a standing ovation.
