Dorian Godon has booked his second victory in the Tour de Romandie. The French champion from Ineos Grenadiers was the best in a sprint from a thinned peloton after 176 kilometers.

Godon defeated Finn Fisher-Black of New Zealand and Valentin Paret-Peintre of France. The Slovenian world champion and yellow jersey wearer Tadej Pogacar finished fourth.

Godon won the prologue of the Swiss stage race earlier this week. This is his fifth victory of 2026.

Italian Damiano Caruso broke away from a leading group, including Sam Oomen, on the climb of the Col du Mollendruz. In the long descent to Orbe, the Belgian Steff Cras and the German Georg Steinhauser joined again, but with 2.5 kilometers to go the trio was overtaken.

In the sprint, Fisher-Black seemed faster than Godon, but the French champion still came past.

Pogacar has a 17 second lead over the German Florian Lipowitz in the general classification. The Tour de Romandie lasts until Sunday. A difficult mountain stage follows on Saturday.

Georg Zimmermann wins one-day race

Georg Zimmermann has won the 63rd edition of Eschborn-Frankfurt. The German champion of Lotto Intermarché was the best in the sprint of a group of twelve riders after 211.4 kilometers. He was too fast for British cyclists Tom Pidcock and Ben Tulett.

For Zimmermann it is the first victory in 2026 and the first victory since he became German champion last year. He gives his Belgian team its first victory in the WorldTour. The team was formed after last season from a merger of Intermarché – Wanty and Lotto.

As of one more local lap, the leading group had a 25 second lead over the peloton. The peloton closed in the last few hundred meters, but by then the escapees had already started their sprint and Zimmermann was convincingly the fastest.
