The Spaniard launches a general attack at a press conference and gets his frustration off his chest. Reason: A sensational report.

In an angry speech, coach Albert Riera vigorously rejected internal tensions at Eintracht Frankfurt and expressed strong criticism of the media. “This is complete crap,” said the 44-year-old at an SGE press conference about an alleged dispute with national player Jonathan Burkardt and added: “This is not a circus, but a professional football club.”

According to reports, Riera freaked out when asked by a reporter about internal team disagreements: “Total bullshit. Total bullshit,” said the coach, who asked the counter question, visibly annoyed: “Do you think I have a communication problem with my players? Do you believe that?” And further: “We’re not in a pub or a circus here. This is a serious football club. Maybe you think this is a pub and talk to agents and journalists.”

According to the Spaniard, there is “a lot of poison” in the club’s environment. But I don’t accept lies. I’m not here as a puppet and demand respect,” Riera complained and affirmed before the 100th Bundesliga duel with Hamburger SV on Saturday (from 3:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online): “I can promise that every player will give everything for the club and the common goal until my last day. Everyone is one hundred percent there.”

According to Riera, there had been no “weird situation with any player” in the past few days. “Our fans deserve the truth. And that is that we had a great atmosphere in training. It’s nothing bad,” asserted Riera, who was criticized, and got heated in the press conference: “Give correct information and not some lies, so that some people think: What kind of circus is this at Eintracht.”

After just one win from the last five games, the Hessians are under enormous pressure in the fight for an international starting place. With 43 points, Eintracht is in the required seventh place, level with SC Freiburg. “We now have three finals,” said Riera, looking at the table.
