Dieuwke Wynia was Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s horror sidekick at De Wereld Draait Door for years, but likes to shift the blame to others. What is her relationship with him like now?
The former De Wereld Draait Door boss Dieuwke Wynia has made it a whole business model to throw others under the bus. She has now published another book and Matthijs van Nieuwkerk does not fare well in it. When will she ever turn her hand? Not in that book anyway, say critics.
Tough position
What exactly is her criticism of Matthijs? “I found him not very involved in the editorial staff and not very caring for me,” she says in the Fidelity. “If you share such a tough position, you have to look after each other. He didn’t look after me and that made me feel vulnerable.”
That feeling of vulnerability made her so terrible to everyone, Dieuwke wants to say. “I armed myself, also against others. As a result, I was too harsh.”
No contact
Dieuwke no longer has contact with Matthijs. “We were never friends. We only worked together intensively and for a long time. I have never been to his home in Amsterdam. I went to his farm in the east of the country once a year.”
So she didn’t always sit at his kitchen table. “I have always struggled with how to approach him. But we also brought out the best in each other. I hope he is happy. We were evenly matched and I look back on that with great pleasure. I had my best time at DWDD.”
Bitch from Hilversum
Story boss Guido den Aantrekker believes that Dieuwke should take a look at himself. “I have been in showbiz for several years now and I really don’t know anyone in this profession who likes her,” he says in Show news.
He concludes: “Matthijs was always a bit shy when you met him at parties. She was always there. If you, as a journalist, approached Matthijs if you wanted to ask him something, he was always a bit shy and she immediately jumped in. (…) To put it very bluntly: she was really known as the bitch of Hilversum.”
