At the annual meeting of FIFA held in Vancouver, Canada, President Infantino invited the representatives of the two countries who made their speeches to the podium again. Infantino, who wanted Jibril Rajoub and Basim Sheikh Suliman to shake hands, tried to persuade Rajoub for about 2 minutes and left the podium, saying “We are in pain.”
Taking the podium, Infantino said, “Let me thank the two representatives of Israel and Palestine, who are members of FIFA and have the same rights, duties and obligations. Let’s work together to give hope to children. We have a beautiful under-15 tournament coming up in which we will invite 211 countries, all the children of the world, to participate, let’s do this for that. Let’s work together, I promise you, you have the support of the whole hall.” he said.
When Rajoub took his place in the hall, he was applauded once again by those around him.

Answering the questions of journalists after the meeting, Jibril Rajoub said, “The man who spoke on behalf of Israel did not even pay attention to the pain and what was going on. He is trying to whitewash the ugly face of the Israeli government, genocide and ethnic cleansing. We had to stop all sports activities because of the Israeli occupation, strangulation, restrictions, killings and arrests.” he said.
Calling on FIFA, Rajoub said, “Please stop organizing and funding official leagues in the occupied territories. According to international law, these were Palestinian lands. Israel organizes clubs and leagues in nine settlements here. This is against FIFA standards.” he said.
