Manuel Neuer has apparently made a decision about his future at FC Bayern. In the afternoon, “Bild” reported that Thomas Kroth, the 40-year-old’s advisor, appeared at Säbener Strasse for negotiations – with the expectation of an extension. In the evening, “Sky” confirmed the reports.
Neuer’s contract, which ends in 2026, should be extended by one year, and the goalkeeper icon’s salary should also be reduced. With a salary of 20 million euros per year, the ex-DFB keeper is one of the top earners at Bayern. The report also shows that Neuer will hand over more games to Jonas Urbig. The goalkeeper, who came from 1. FC Köln in January 2025 for 7 million euros, played 16 games this season, eleven of them in the Bundesliga. However, there is still no agreement between Neuer and FC Bayern.
Neuer came to FC Bayern from FC Schalke in 2011 for 30 million euros and has since played 596 games – fifth place in the club’s history. With the extension he could overtake Gerd Müller (613) and Oliver Kahn (632). No German goalkeeper was more expensive than the Gelsenkirchen native, who played 203 games for the Royal Blues before moving to Munich. In addition, there were 124 international matches for the German national team between 2009 and 2024; only four professionals wore the jersey with the eagle on their chest more often. In two further appearances in the Bundesliga, he overtook Mirko Votava and jumped into the top five record players.
