The Verdi union is expanding the warning strikes on Thursday to other areas in Germany as part of the Deutsche Telekom collective bargaining round.
According to the union, the reason for the warning strikes is the “disappointing course of the second round of collective bargaining,” which ended without an offer from the employers.
Plans for Thursday include carrying out the warning strike in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Several areas of the Telekom Group were affected by the strike, said Verdi labor dispute leader Pascal Röckert. This could lead to poorer accessibility, delays in technical customer service and fiber optic expansion, as well as cancellations of customer appointments.
Locations in North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia were affected by the warning strike on Wednesday, while locations in the north and northeast of Germany were affected on Tuesday.
In this year’s Deutsche Telekom collective bargaining round, the union is demanding a wage increase of 6.6 percent, with the collective agreement running for twelve months. In addition, Verdi is calling for the introduction of a member bonus of 660 euros per year. The training allowances and the salaries of dual students are to be increased by 120 euros per month. For these, Verdi demands an additional member bonus of 240 euros per year.
In XETRA trading on Thursday, Deutsche Telekom shares were temporarily at 27.22 euros, 0.37 percent lower.
