Wildfire in ‘t Harde did not become smaller last night: ‘crucial’ in the coming hours

The wildfire on the military training ground near ‘t Harde in Gelderland “unfortunately did not become smaller last night”, a spokesperson for the safety region reported to the ANP news agency on Thursday morning. On Thursday morning, about a hundred to a hundred and fifty firefighters were still extinguishing the fire.

The fire was largely under control on Wednesday evening, but the fire brigade warned that the fire could still flare up “here and there”. According to the safety region, the next few hours are “crucial” because the wind is picking up, possibly causing more smoke and odor nuisance. An NL Alert therefore applies in and around Nunspeet.

A wildfire is also still raging in the Heldense Bossen in Limburg, between Kessel and Helden. Mayor Bob Vostermans of the municipality of Peel en Maas calls on residents to stay away from the fire and let the emergency services do their work.
