River Plate is strengthening itself at the management level with ex-Marseille president Pablo Longoria. The 39-year-old will be the new sports director of the traditional Argentine club. The Spaniard left OM almost a month ago after losing a power struggle with the local sports director Medhi Benatia.
At River Plate, Longoria will be part of a medium and long-term project and, in addition to the first team, will also drive forward scouting, analysis and youth work. He works closely with the previous sports director Enzo Francescoli. For Longoria, who has already held similar positions at OM and FC Valencia, this is the first job outside of Europe.
