At the 2025 European Basketball Championships in Latvia and Finland, German national player Isaac Bonga from Partizan Belgrade once again demonstrated his qualities. Immediately after winning the title with the DBB team, there was speculation that the top defender could return to North America. Apparently his move to the NBA is already confirmed.

Although the German national basketball player has not yet signed his contract in the Motor City that the move will take place, he is still certain.
Accordingly, the Pistons plan to announce the commitment of the NBA return on June 20th – one day after the end of the Summer League in Las Vegas. For the 26-year-old, it is another attempt in North America. In the 2018 draft he came to the Los Angeles Lakers as a second-round pick, and in total he made 143 appearances for the Lakers, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors in the best league in the world.
Bonga has a special NBA clause
The 26-year-old once again caught the attention of the NBA with strong performances at last year’s European Championships. In the final he helped Germany triumph against Turkey with 20 points (4/4 triples). Bonga received the title as the best defender of the tournament. The DBB star also regularly delivers at Partizan Belgrade.
The man from Neuwied is actually under contract in the Serbian capital until 2027, but is allowed to leave earlier due to a special NBA exit clause. “The player has an exit clause for the NBA,” club president Ostoja Mijailovic confirmed in February Sports.
