Former football player Mesut Özil, who played for teams such as Real Madrid, Arsenal, Fenerbahçe and RAMS Başakşehir in his career, made a statement at the “Leadership Summit in the Age of Confusion” hosted by the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Explaining the problems he experienced after his East Turkestan post while playing for Arsenal, Özil made the following statements:
“As a star, I had the power to make my voice heard and I should not have remained silent on some issues. I also knew that I would create tension with Arsenal with my post, but I didn’t care.
That’s why they closed all the doors to me. “Those were difficult days because I enjoyed football so much and they took that away from me.”
