Darts phenomenon Beau Greaves was the first woman to win a ranking tournament with the professional association PDC. The Englishwoman is still a little shocked by her success. When asked about possible participation in the Premier League, “Beau ‘n’ Arrow” is still cautious.
At the eleventh Players Championship event of the season, Greaves wrote nothing less than darts history on Monday.
The 22-year-old secured victory in the tournament, her opponents had it all. The Englishwoman finally met three world champions: Rob Cross (6:5), Gary Anderson (7:1) and Michael Smith (8:7). Greaves won the final thanks to a 142 checkout in the deciding leg.
“It’s just unbelievable. I’m still a bit in shock, but it’s something I’ll always remember fondly,” Greaves reflected on her success with a bit of distance in an interview with Sky Sports.
“When I woke up, I just felt completely relaxed and completely comfortable. I was just happy and enjoyed the games I was playing to the fullest. The further you go, the stronger your opponents become, and beating three world champions in a row made the whole thing even more special,” said the darts hopeful.
Her 142 checkout against Smith was “probably the best three darts I’ve ever thrown,” said Greaves, describing the decisive moment in winning the tournament.
Premier League? “Probably should win the World Darts Championship”
When asked about a possible participation in the Premier League, “Beau ‘n’ Arrow” was still cautious. “I would probably have to win the World Darts Championship to get into the Premier League,” she said.
“I never thought I would win my first ranking title now, if ever, so I’m just going to enjoy the moment, get back to training and work hard. If I keep doing what I’m doing, you never know where I might end up,” Greaves said, not wanting to put too much pressure on himself.
