Because the houses in the city center of Bruges are close together, the fire spread to the building next door, Eeckhoutstraat 17, and also to two buildings around the corner, in Geerolfstraat. One of those two houses is for sale. The difficult location in combination with the strong wind did not make the fire brigade’s work easy.
Nevertheless, the fire brigade got the fire under control relatively quickly. Smoke development was visible from outside. Yet the houses have been declared uninhabitable. Due to the fire and water damage, there is also a lot of damage to the electrical lines in the houses.
