The pole vault star told MTV Urheilu about his injury.

Wilma Heltelä has suffered from injuries. The most recent accident happened in the gym. Pete Anikari

Pole vault star Wlma Heltelä (born Murto) tells MTV Urheilu that a couple of weeks ago he was hit on the head by a plate bar, with the result that he suffered a concussion.

According to Heltelä, the accident happened during a strength training situation, where he was hit on the head by a plate bar during an unsuccessful repetition. He was diagnosed with a concussion as a result of the incident.

According to Heltelä, the accident has affected his training, but according to him, it should not have a “significant effect” on the summer European Championships.

Heltelä has suffered from numerous injuries in recent years, which have affected the competition seasons of the multiple prize medalist.

– Maybe there’s a bit of a feeling that maybe this wouldn’t have been needed anymore, Murto says to MTV.

The European Athletics Championships will be held in Birmingham in August.
