At Spectacle in Paris
Neuer didn’t parry once

In the first leg between PSG and FC Bayern, the two offensive lines particularly shine. This gives Manuel Neuer a historic mark.
FC Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain delivered a semi-final on Tuesday evening the likes of which the Champions League has never seen before. The Parisians won the nine-goal spectacle in the French capital 5-4, the first time in the long history of the premier class that so many goals were scored in a single semi-final.
What thrilled neutral spectators around the world may have particularly bothered the two goalkeepers. Manuel Neuer even came out of the cracker with a historic negative mark. As the US television broadcaster ESPN reports, he is the first goalkeeper in the last 16 Champions League seasons to concede at least five goals and not make a single save.
“Conceding five goals disrupts a defense and of course the goalkeeper, that’s clear,” said Neuer after the final whistle. The PSG professionals fired twelve shots, five of which were on goal – and also ended up in the net. “We can do better at the back than we did today,” said Neuer. He rightly spoke of the complete defensive alliance, because the goalkeeper was largely powerless when it came to conceding goals. This is reflected not least in his t-online game rating.
For the second leg, coach Vincent Kompany must provide his entire defense with solutions in order to better defend themselves against the fast PSG offensive. “What we still need to improve is our remaining defense,” said the FCB coach after the game in Paris. “We didn’t always look good and let our opponents counterattack too easily.” At the same time, Munich will have to show their offensive qualities again. “We have to win at home,” says Kompany.
