DRESDEN/ERFURT/MAGDEBURG (dpa-AFX) – The Verdi union has called on employees in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia to go on a warning strike during collective bargaining negotiations at Deutsche Telekom (Deutsche Telekom). “The goal is to get around 1,500 strikers onto the streets today,” said union secretary René List. Overall, Telekom has between 7,500 and 8,000 collective bargaining employees in the three federal states, says List.
The first strikes had already taken place in other federal states on Tuesday. Verdi justifies the warning strike with a disappointing second round of collective bargaining without an offer from the employers.
Verdi is demanding, among other things, a wage increase of 6.6 percent for a term of the collective agreement of twelve months and a Verdi member bonus of 660 euros per year for around 60,000 collective bargaining employees nationwide.
According to the union, the Telekom group in Germany consists of 20 different collectively agreed group companies, each of which has its own collective agreements. The majority of the collective wage agreements run until March 31, 2026. Before the collective bargaining round, joint negotiations were agreed for these companies.
The third round of collective bargaining is scheduled for 11/12. May 2026 scheduled./maf/DP/zb
