Sam Neill has been declared cancer-free after successful immunotherapy, which he underwent after his chemotherapy no longer had any effect. The 78-year-old Jurassic Park actor tells this 7News Australia. Neill was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2022.
Neill first underwent chemotherapy, which he found to be a ‘pretty miserable affair’. Nevertheless, the actor was grateful that the chemo prolonged his life, until it no longer worked. “I was at my wits’ end and it looked like I wouldn’t make it,” he reflects.
Neill has now been declared cancer-free thanks to CAR T-cell therapy, which the American Cancer Society describes as an effective option for the treatment of serious forms of blood cancers. “I just had a scan and there is no more cancer in my body,” said the actor. “That is something extraordinary. I am very, very happy that this happened.”
