Isabelle, Jari and Cedric think they are running the Kortrijk marathon, but upon arrival the course turns out to be… too short: “My girlfriend hugged me, but she immediately saw that I was not happy”

They trained for months, suffered in the sun and received a medal at the finish. And yet it turned out that they had not run a marathon. For more than 4,000 participants in the first Skylux Marathon in Kortrijk, euphoria turned into mild disappointment on Sunday: their sports watch told a different story than the organization. The mythical limit of 42.195 kilometers? Just didn’t make it. The course was too short, according to Cedric De Wever (29) from Heule, Isabel Deprez (49) from Harelbeke and Jari Goethals (29) from Evergem. That’s how they discovered that cold shower.
