Connor McDavid’s playing in next night’s vital game is a mystery, even with the start of Game 5 of the Anaheim series just a few hours away.
Edmonton Oilers’ captain and the NHL’s biggest superstar did not skate on the ice during the team’s morning training sessions. The reason is probably an ankle injury that occurred earlier in the series, which has affected the attacker’s playing for several matches.
McDavid missed the morning ice even before the previous match, so the solution seen now is not exceptional. It is also certain that the most important player of a team playing with its back against the wall won’t leave the guarantee ladder without pulling on the jersey for any good reason.
Oilers head coach Chris Knoblauch told the media after the morning ice that the team would make a decision about McDavid’s playing only moments before the match. The match starts at five in the morning Finnish time.
Anaheim leads the match series 3–1, so the Oilers are facing must-wins, so that the season does not end in the first round of the playoffs.
McDavid, who won the regular season point exchange again this year, has scored four (1+3) power points in four matches.
