As expected, Jamal Musiala is in Bayern Munich’s starting line-up in the Champions League semi-finals.
The first leg against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain kicks off at 9 p.m. in the Prinzenpark. Musiala has bad memories of the opponent.
In the summer of 2025, the tricky offensive player was seriously injured in a duel with PSG. After the then Paris goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma played in the Club World Cup, he was out for months with a broken fibula.
Gnabry and Karl are missing injured
Musiala returned to the Bayern squad in January, but a new ankle injury in March set him back. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany wanted to carefully bring Musiala back to his top form and mostly brought him on as a substitute in April.
In Paris, however, both Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl are out injured, so Kompany brings Musiala into attacking midfield from the start. National coach Julian Nagelsmann will also look closely at how Musiala performs on the big international stage with a view to his World Cup squad.
Full-back Alphonso Davies is also in the starting lineup – for the first time in a Champions League game this season. Coach Kompany has to watch the game from the stands due to a yellow card suspension.
FC Bayern’s line-up:
Neuer – Stanisic, Upamecano, Tah, Davies – Kimmich, Pavlovic – Olise, Musiala, Díaz – Kane
