The patient data stolen in the hack of software supplier ChipSoft has not been published anywhere and the data has now been destroyed. The company reported this in a statement on its own website.
The hack on ChipSoft was announced earlier this month. Patient data, including medical data, was stolen. Affected institutions included rehabilitation centers, general practices, the HiX healthcare platform, the cloud environment for general practitioners and the patient portal.
According to the company, this stolen data has now been destroyed. “Our cybersecurity experts have confirmed that this destruction took place in a technically correct manner,” the statement said. ChipSoft does not report whether money was paid to the hackers.
Work is now also underway to reactivate various affected systems. “We are reactivating the systems step by step in close coordination with the healthcare institutions. For example, the technical preparations, such as renewing keys and certificates, of the Care Portal and Care Platform have now been completed for the healthcare institutions that want to use them again.”
ChipSoft is the market leader in the Netherlands in the field of software for electronic patient records (EPD) and serves more than 70 percent of the market.
