Corn mill De Gouden Engel from 2008 is located in one of the most beautiful places in North Holland, right on the Noordhollandsch Kanaal in Koedijk. But miller Vincent Kraan (66) is retiring in November and is therefore looking for a successor.
Spend seventeen years of your life in the mill
Together with his wife Karlijn (59), who runs the shop, and her daughter Judith Breed (35), a pastry chef, they form the heart of the mill, shop and bakery. If Vincent stops, they too will stop.
“You get older and notice that you don’t have eternal life,” says Vincent, who will soon miss the miller’s trade. “It does hurt a bit, yes. After all, seventeen years of your life have gone into this,” Karlijn adds.
