The character of Dracula is one of the most legendary in pop culture. It was primarily taken up in the world of film. Works like “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” from 1992 or “Nosferatu,” which is also inspired by the legend of Dracula, enjoy cult status today. Since February 13, 2026, another film adaptation, “Dracula: The Resurrection,” by director Luc Besson, with the eponymous vampire in the lead role, has been available for domestic cinemas. What is the new vampire adventure about?

“Dracula: Resurrection” is a genre mix of horror and fantasy. The protagonist Count Vlad, played by Caleb Landry Jones, cruelly loses his beloved wife Elisabeth. As a result, he renounces God and the church and kills a priest – a decision with far-reaching consequences. He is sentenced to a life as an undead and thus becomes Dracula. As a vampire he wanders through the centuries. His great hope of being reunited with his late wife at some point does not come true – until he discovers Mina in 19th century Paris, a woman who looks shockingly similar to himself. He begins to pursue her, and the audience is left wondering whether Dracula can find true love again.

Two-time Oscar winner in the cast

The character of the vampire hunter Van Helsing is one of the most famous in the Dracula universe and is also represented in “Dracula: The Resurrection”. This time the character is portrayed by Christoph Waltz, who brings star power to the film’s ensemble cast. It is also completed by Zoe Sidel in the role of Mina, Matilda de Angelis as Maria and Raphael Luce, who plays Clerk Simon.
