Always wanted to have a spacesuit? Don’t worry: you don’t have to travel all the way to the moon and back for that. However, you do have to pay an amount of more than 300,000 euros on eBay.

There is a striking advertisement on the auction site for a ‘Krechet’ space suit. It is said to be a rare astronaut suit that was developed by the Soviet Union between 1966 and 1972. The suit weighs 106 kilograms and can provide life support for up to ten hours in open space. When the Soviets lost the moon race, their moon program was canceled and the suit never came into use.

Some parts of the suit were later disassembled and reused in modified models for the space station program. Restoring the suit is difficult today due to a lack of original parts. Many ‘Krechet’ spacesuits and other parts of the Soviet moon program were destroyed.

This copy would also be destroyed in the late 1970s, but was ultimately preserved in a factory. It ended up in private ownership in the early 2000s. In any case, the spacesuit is unique, because due to the limited number of copies produced and its subsequent destruction, few are left.

The asking price is currently around 297,000 euros. Since there is a lot to offer, that amount can increase considerably. You can bid on the rare suit via this link.
