From Friday, May 1 to September 7, Rijkswaterstaat is working on widening the Tilburg-Reeshof exit of the A58. At the same time, the municipality of Tilburg is tackling the N260. Road users are advised to take closures and periods when fewer lanes are available during this period. The additional travel time is a maximum of ten minutes.
To improve safety and traffic flow at Tilburg, an extra left-turn lane will be created at the connection of the A58 to the N260. At the same time, the municipality of Tilburg is renovating the traffic lights and relocating cables.
The work will start on Friday at nine o’clock in the evening. The work takes place in different phases. The Tilburg-Reeshof exit (12) is then completely closed several times. In between there are longer periods with narrower or fewer lanes.
- The Tilburg-Reeshof exit on the A58 from Breda towards the east is closed between Friday evening, May 1 and Monday morning, May 4 and between Monday, August 31 and Monday, September 7.
- The Tilburg-Reeshof exit on the A58 from the east towards Breda is closed on Saturday, September 5.
- The N260 from Tilburg towards the Belgian border is closed between Thursday 3 and Monday 7 September.
Diversion routes will be set up due to the work. Traffic is advised to follow the yellow signs. Traffic will be diverted via the Tilburg-Centrum-West connection and the Bredaseweg, among other things.
Why does this work take five months?
The work takes a lot of time because the ground has to settle (rest) in between before the widening. “This sometimes makes it seem as if no work is being done, but this is a necessary part of the process,” Rijkswaterstaat emphasizes.
The municipality of Tilburg uses this time to tackle the traffic lights at the exit on the N260. “This way, the road user only has to deal with inconvenience for one period.”
