Will US President Donald Trump change the name of the controversial immigration service ICE to NICE? A conservative influencer suggested that plan last month and Trump has now expressed his support for it. “Great idea!!! Do it,” he wrote on Truth Social.

The influencer Alyssa Marie made a proposal to place the word ‘National’ in front of the current name of the service. This would go from ‘Immigration and Customs Enforcement’ (‘ICE’) to ‘NICE’.
Marie thought it was a good idea, because then the media would have to write about ‘NICE agents’. Trump also seems to like that idea.
Controversial
If Trump does actually do that, is that possible? According to the news site ‘The Hill’, Congress must first agree to a name change. But Trump previously renamed the Defense Department to the War Department without congressional approval.
ICE has been in the news a lot in recent months. The infamous immigration service takes a remarkably tough line in large-scale operations to arrest and deport migrants. Two demonstrators were killed during weeks of protests against immigration authorities.
