The police received several reports from local residents around 6:40 am that shots had been heard. A local resident told AT5 that he heard at least four shots. According to a police spokesperson, there was an argument in the street and several shots may have been fired.
The victim was found injured in the nearby De Kempenaerstraat by officers who arrived on the scene. Initial care was provided on site, after which the man was urgently transferred to hospital.
The police have cordoned off the area and are investigating. A search is also underway in the area for the perpetrator. Witnesses who saw or heard something are asked to come forward. Local residents with a video doorbell or dashcam are also asked if they want to share the images.
