Referee Elif Karaarslan25, is once again causing confusion in Turkish football.
Karaarslan made headlines in the fall of 2024, when he was banned for life after appearing in a sex video with a referee observer of the Turkish Football Association Orhan Erdemir with.
Now the tumult has drifted into even deeper waters. According to Turkish media, he and many other public figures have been arrested because they are suspected of being involved in drug rings and prostitution in Istanbul.
In connection with the criminal investigation, Karaarslan’s social media business has also come under fire. He sells paid and quite bold content to his followers, which may now have crossed the line of good taste.
Karaarslan himself defends himself against the accusations.
– Instagram does not allow nude photos. At most, bikini photos are allowed. It was not meant to be obscene – everything was done with consent, he explains.
The ex-judge takes a strong stance on drugs.
– Due to my athletic background, I have never used drugs. I’ve never even attended a house party, and nightclubs don’t interest me.
However, the drug tests revealed that traces of cocaine and methamphetamine were found in the sample provided by Karaarslan.
