Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß has been linked to Real Madrid. His superior reacts to the speculation. In one aspect he sees VfB clearly ahead of the Royals.
The collaboration between Sebastian Hoeneß and VfB Stuttgart is a success story. In 2023, the coach first led the Swabians to stay in the league, then to runner-up and cup victory. Triumph in the DFB Cup is possible again this season. So it’s no wonder that Hoeneß is also traded at top clubs.
Two years ago, FC Bayern was among the interested parties, most recently Real Madrid was traded. According to “Sport Bild”, the VfB coach in Madrid is on the list. Fabian Wohlgemuth, Stuttgart’s sports director, responded to the speculation on Sunday. “I read about that. And I also believe that Real Madrid selects its staff very professionally,” he said before the VfB game against Werder Bremen on Dazn.
Wohlgemuth clearly rejected the rumors: “I can say that we still have a lot of plans together – completely independent of Real Madrid.” Although he can’t speak for the coach, the sports director at least has a good feeling. “I experience Sebastian in his daily work. We communicate a lot, plan a lot together. If there were any signs, he would be open enough to approach us directly,” reported Wohlgemuth.
Rather, Hoeneß knows “what he has at VfB Stuttgart”. Especially when looking into the stadium: “There isn’t such an incredible atmosphere even in Madrid. That’s why he’s in good hands here.”
