Giovanni won the title at Villa d’Este by prevailing on the fifth play-off hole, Natalia won at Is Molas. Double success also in the Nations Trophy

April 26 – 6.27pm – MILAN

Italian dominance at the Italian International Championships. The Italians achieved success with successes both in the individual and in the Nations Trophy. In the men’s tournament, on the Villa d’Este Golf Club course (par 69), Giovanni Binaghi (Monticello) won, and in the women’s tournament, at the Is Molas Golf Club (par 72), Natalia Aparicio (Asolo) won the title.

what a playoff

Giovanni Binaghi, in Montorfano (CO), concluded the competition with 266 (68 65 66 67, -10) strokes on par with the Czech Louis Klein (266 – 66 65 70 65), and then obtained the trophy on the fifth additional hole with a birdie against the bogey of his strong opponent. In this way he emulated his father Alberto, who climbed to the top step of the podium forty years earlier, now Technical Commissioner of the Men’s National Amateur Team, who followed the official team together with Alain Vergari, Deputy Technical Commissioner. The Italian began the final round in third place with a two-shot margin over Klein who recovered with a 65 (-4), compared to a 67 (-2), and then in the play-off there were excellent shots from both until the Czech was unable to do anything against the winner’s sharp shot. Giovanni Binaghi, a 19-year-old from Milan, has added a new pearl to his international successes including the Junior Invitational in USA (2024), while he was part of the victorious Team Europe in the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup and the Continent of Europe who scored in the Jacques Léglise Trophy (2025). In the Nations Trophy the blue teams took the first two places. Italia 2 with Giampaolo Gagliardi (Olgiata), Carlo Roman and Francesco Petrangeli (Roma Acquasanta) prevailed with 403 (-11) shots ahead of Italia 1 with Filippo Ponzano (Turin), Michele Ferrero (Turin) and Giovanni Binaghi with 408 (-6).

aparicio solo

In Pula (CA), Natalia Aparicio (Asolo) did not give space to her opponents, leading the race from the first lap. She scored 285 (70 69 74 72, -3) shots, two ahead of Austrian Johanna Janisch, who like her was one of the favourites, second with 287 (-1), and three ahead of German Yoo-Jin Bae, third with 288 (par). Natalia Aparicio, a 19-year-old born in Lima (Peru), boasts among her titles the recent National Match Play Championship/G. Silva Trophy, obtained in March, the International Under 18 Italian Championship (2025), the Girls Championship/Bertotto Trophy (2025), the individual in the European Young Masters and the National Girls Championship/Silvio Marazza Trophy, both in 2023. In the Nations Trophy the Italia 1 team with Aparicio herself, Giorgia Scortichini (Franciacorta) and Gemma Simeoni (Madonna di Campiglio) won with 443 (+ 11) shots. In second place with 446 (+14) France and in third with 448 (+16) Italia 2 with Guia Vittoria Acutis (Villa Condulmer, who won the individual title last year), Giulietta Bertero and Maria Sole Albini.
