The Inter president spoke to Sky on the Rocchi investigation: “Last year there were decisions adverse to us, also ascertained by the referees. We are strangers and we will be strangers in the future too”
No official statements were expected from Inter after the outbreak of the Rocchi case, with the investigation seeing the referees’ designator (now self-suspended) investigated for sports fraud. Instead, Nerazzurri president Marotta wanted to talk about the case on Sky before the Torino-Inter game: “We learned everything from the press. The statements and press releases that came out amaze us. We have never had lists of welcome or unwelcome referees – said the Inter number one – We have always acted with the utmost correctness, which is why I want to reassure all the fans. Last year there were decisions adverse to us, also ascertained by the referees’ top management, the penalty not awarded in Inter-Roma. Now let’s think about the match and about winning this deserved championship as soon as possible. We are strangers to this affair and will remain so in the future.”
He is then asked about the alleged meeting with Rocchi for what according to the Prosecutor’s Office is one of the three charges, namely having asked for the appointment of a “welcome” arbitrator. “I’m surprised, I’m not saying I don’t remember, I can’t find a connection, I won’t delve further. I repeat, we acted with the utmost correctness.”
