“He deliberately included a training weekend this weekend. He was also going to do a long endurance training today in anticipation of Ghent-Wevelgem in ten days. He wanted to turn left and came into contact with a vehicle. I hear from bystanders that both parties had green and that the speed was not high,” says team manager Jochen Deweer.
Milan Bral comes from a real cycling family: he is the nephew of ex-pro and current sports director Sep Vanmarcke. “He was a fantastic guy. Super social. Always willing to help everyone,” says Verstegen. Deweer also shows Bral’s warm personality: “He was a great boy. You could ask him anything. He was in order with everything, answered messages and emails perfectly. Nothing was ever too much to ask. Never wasted. He was a golden force to have in a team. A very good rider and a fantastic person.”
