Ex-Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen had an accident during a rally race. He shared how he was feeling after the race.
That just went well again. Jos Verstappen, father of multiple Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, had an accident during a rally race in Belgium. “There was gravel and I think I went into the corner a little too fast. The car spun at the exit of the corner,” said Verstappen.
“Then we crashed into a post, whereupon the car spun on its axis and we landed on the roof.” Jos Verstappen drove in Formula 1 for nine years and became Belgian rally champion last year. “The Belgian rally championship is more difficult than the Dutch one,” said Jos Verstappen at the time.

Now the accident in the Belgian region of Wallonia. Verstappen and his Dutch co-driver, Jasper Vermeulen, were uninjured. Vermeulen stepped in for usual navigator Renaud Jamoul, who had broken his ankle.
“The most important thing is that Jasper and I got out of the car uninjured,” said Verstappen. “It was a serious accident, but it shows that we are in safe cars. I’m glad we got away safely.”
