But this time the head of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office Giuseppe Chinè has decided to expose himself to making certain clarifications regarding the sports investigation closed just under a year ago against Gianluca Rocchi. Here then is a statement, to clarify after the more or less latent accusations (just see yesterday’s post by the Minister for Sport Andrea Abodi), of having covered up the case. Confirming what was written by the Gazzetta, the Prosecutor explains in a note: “Since in these last hours some press organs are spreading untruthful and even fanciful news, devoid of any adherence to the reality of the events, with the exclusive aim of protecting the punctual and scrupulous work of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of the FIGC which I am honored to lead, I would like to confirm that I have received 21 May 2025 exclusively the complaint signed by the assistant Domenico Rocca, on the alleged external intervention in the Var room by the referee Rocchi, during the Udinese-Parma match. Following this complaint, in full compliance with the rules of the Sports Justice Code, a sporting investigation was immediately opened, with the hearing of all the parties involved and with possible knowledge of the facts narrated by the representative. As a result of these investigative documents and the testimonies given by the people present in the Lissone building, no conduct of sporting disciplinary importance emerged. paid by any Aia member”. Chinè then focuses on the management of the accusations of which he has just become aware: “With regards to any new facts of possible sporting disciplinary importance which the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office is dealing with, as per the practice of my Office and as I have always done in the past in relation to other well-known criminal trials susceptible to sporting disciplinary interest, I confirm that I am already in contact with the investigating bodies in charge of the criminal proceedings and that I have already taken steps, as of yesterday, to formally request the documents of the criminal investigation where ostensible, to start and, possibly, reopen, if there is new evidence deemed decisive, the sporting investigation”.
