The Kenyan Sabastian Sawe, 31, became a rich man in London on Sunday, as the victory in the major race with a new ME time of 1:59:30 spawned a hefty cash pot. He will receive 55,000 US dollars for his first place. The world record bonus paid by the race organizers is $125,000. The London Marathon website states that a 2:02.00 sub will bring $150,000 and a new course record (old record 2:01.25) $25,000.
