According to a press report, the energy company E.ON is in advanced discussions about purchasing Ovo Energy.
The structure of the possible deal is unclear, the Sky news channel reported on Saturday, citing industry circles. Although the companies are close to an agreement, failure is still possible. It is also unclear whether other companies continue to be interested in the British energy supplier, which is in troubled waters.
A combination of the two companies would create a gas and electricity provider in the UK with more than 9.5 million customers. Based on various criteria, the new company would be larger than the current top dogs British Gas and Octupus Energy. E.ON and Ovo declined to comment on the matter, according to the report.
