Vincent Kompany blocks questions about PSG – and even apologizes to a reporter. The Bayern coach makes it clear what his focus is now.
On Friday at the press conference on Säbener Straße, Vincent Kompany (40) made it very clear: his focus is exclusively on the Bundesliga game on Saturday against 1. FSV Mainz 05.
A French reporter wanted to know from the Bayern coach what role winger Michael Olise (23) will play in the upcoming duels with Paris Saint-Germain. Kompany refused to answer – and consistently stuck to his topic, as “Bild” reports.
When he found out that the journalist had come especially from Paris, he reacted unusually personally: “I think it’s a shame because you came from far away. But I’m not going to talk about Paris now, I’m sorry.” Instead, he offered to talk about other topics.
Vitinha (26) is currently causing unrest at Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder injured his right foot in the league game against Lyon on Sunday and had to be substituted early.
Diagnosis according to the club: inflammation of the heel. The club did not mention any specific downtime. According to the French sports newspaper L’Équipe, there is confidence internally that Vitinha will be fit in time.
Kompany did not want to assess whether there was tactics behind PSG’s information policy. “Of course I heard the information, but an answer to this question will only be available in three days,” he said, according to the “Bild” newspaper.
