Oosteroever has been a neighborhood in full development for years. With a vision of the future, Ostend wants to set clear guidelines for the further growth of the neighborhood. Affordable and permanent housing, space for the local economy, new maritime activities, nature, heritage and quality of life are central. The connection with the Lighthouse District and the city center is also receiving attention.
According to Alderman for Urban Development and Participation Judith Ooms, the city wants to build on what is already present today, but at the same time resolutely opt for a new course. “We are working on the future of Oosteroever with clear principles and attention to Ostend residents,” it says.
