Spotify celebrates 20 years and reveals who dominates the platform: Taylor Swift is the solo queen, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” is the biggest song. Discover all rankings now.
At the end of each year, all Spotify users find out through Spotify Wrapped which artists and songs they have listened to the most. These are personal rankings. However, the streaming provider has now also announced a general ranking. This shows which artists are the most listened to and most popular on the platform. There are hardly any surprises.
Who is heard the most?
On April 23, 2026, to mark the company’s 20th anniversary, Spotify published the musicians who have been most successful since the platform was founded. For this purpose, lists were published in three categories: artists, albums and songs. So who is at the top?
The results are hardly surprising. As expected, the biggest and most famous artists in the world are also at the top. Taylor Swift is the most streamed solo artist of all time. Bad Bunny’s 2022 album “Un Verano Sin Ti” is number one among the most streamed albums of all time, and The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” prevails as the most successful song on the platform.
Ed Sheeran, Drake, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber are also well represented on the lists. However, the Arctic Monkeys’ fifth studio album “AM” caused a surprise: at number nine, it unexpectedly secured a place in the top ten of the album category.
