CHon Stranger Things: Stories from 1985, on Netflix we return to Hawkins in company Of Eleven, Mike, Will and all the protagonists of the most beloved series on the platform. The animated version, designed by Eric Robles and produced by the Duffer brothers, brings into play all the dynamics of the original (the Upside Down, the shadow of the government, the demogorgon) also introducing new characters. The 80s allure remains intactalong with its amazing soundtrack. The biggest surprise? Overcoming the painful ending of the live-action e a new destiny for Mike and Eleven.

Hawkins, Indiana, January 10, 1985: it’s still winter and the streets are all full of snow. It’s been just 4 weeks since the events of the Snow Ball (end of season 2). The young heroes of the city resume their habits: studying, Be good and start playing Dungeons & Dragons again.
Get on their bikes and walkie-talkiesthey meet as usual at the crossroads to go to school together. Lucas and Max arrive together: there is more and more chemistry between the two. Eleven also wakes up early to join the group: Too bad she can’t go to high school. Hop is afraid that the inhabitants will discover his true identity and his powers.
It might seem like a day like any other, but it’s not. Dustin, late for wasting time in Mr. Daniel’s convenience store to eat a snack and play Space Invaders, he meets the usual two bullies who block his path and they would like to take his backpack. As, he starts running in the bush chased by the bad guys. However, he doesn’t realize what his name is Charlie is suddenly sucked in by a mysterious girl entity which moves just below the ground.
Believing he has outpaced his annoying peers, he joins the others in class. Mr Clark, science teachercommunicates that he has asked for a sabbatical and introduces the new teacher, the funny Mrs. Baxter. They also get acquainted with theThe newcomer, a rather particular punk girl.

The return of the demogorgon and new plans
A storm is forecast in a few days, so they decide to pass the time organizing a day of Dungeons & Dragons. They would like to buy new game pieces but are running out of money. Lucas suggests shoveling snow from the neighbors’ houses to earn a few dollars. An idea that is quickly shot down by the owner of the local snowplow, who orders not to hinder his work. Suddenly, the mysterious underground creature drags him away and then attacks the boys. Undi’s intervention is providential.
Who is that monster? everyone they fear it might be a demogorgon. Warn Hop or defeat him yourself? If word got out, the government could come back and blame their friend. The answer is obvious: «we alone have to capture him, there’s no going back.” As, they come up with a plan: they sprinkle Dustin with snacks in the hope of attracting him.
However, things take a different turn. He is not attracted by their friend but by the newcomer. The boys try to warn her, but in vain. Once again Undi must intervene: she blocks the strange creature, which spits out poor Charlie dung-face and then disappears, dissolving into fragments carried away by the wind.
The stranger, whose name is Nikki, is safe but asks them for explanations. After making her swear never to reveal their secret, they tell her everything. Undi’s story, Will’s disappearance, the existence of the Upside Down, the Mindflyer. Impressed, she reassures everyone and becomes a new member of the group. Will she help them discover a new, shocking truth?
Review by Stranger Things 1985
The long-awaited animated series recounts the events that occurred between the end of the second season and the beginning of the third. A time period left pending in the original (and little loved by its fans) to which apply good processing of already known facts. This bond does not Stranger Things: Stories from 1985 a reboot but a pleasant mix of memories and novelties: the world of Stranger it doesn’t change drastically but it expands.
At the center of the Hawkins universe the fetishes of the 80s remain which contributed to the success of the live-action. The cinematographic references, however, move away from the touches to Goonies e they add visual finds from cult works. If they are mentioned Mad Max and Alien (1979) with its xenomorph and facehugger, one of the new characters seems to come straight from Re-animator, the sci-fi horror of 1985. The monsters move like the underground worms of Tremors, 1990 disaster film.
There is also room for two pleasant plots. The first it’s Will’s new friendship with Nikki. The girl recognizes in him the value of someone who managed to overcome the many tests of the Upside Down. Thanks to her, Will finds self-confidence. Mike and Elevenseparated by a cruel ending in the original, here instead they can finally enjoy time together like two ordinary teenagers.
The sore point: purists may be disappointed by the technical choice of animation, a mix of 2D and computer graphics. At first glance, it appears neither an homage to the 80s nor a modern reinterpretation of it. Last but not least, the soundtrack. Hearing names like the Clash and the Misfits and songs like In Forest of the Cure or Children of the grave of Black Sabbah it’s pure guilty pleasure.

Stranger Things 1985: the cast, new characters, the Italian voice actors, recommended age for viewing
The cast in the original language was chosen not following the movie star fashions lent to the character but thinking about young and emerging voices. Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max. Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams (Lucas), Braxton Quinney (Dustin).
Benjamin Plessala as Will, Brett Gipson (Hopper). The Italian version remains faithful to the voice actors of the originalin particular the historians Chiara Fabiano (Eleven), Giulio Bartolomei (Mike), Emanuele Suarez (Will). The new characters are born to be both a sidekick like Nikki, is to give a touch of mystery and suspense to the events (Daniel and Mrs. Baxter). However, Will’s super mother is absentJoyce Byers. There watching the series it is recommended for a teenage audience for the presence of horror and high-impact scenes.
