Tina Nijkamp thinks that the new RTL 4 boss Peter Lubbers should do everything he can to bring in the men of Today Inside now that their contract with SBS 6 is expiring.
The men from Today Inside were seen on RTL for years, until John de Mol made a much better offer and they moved to SBS. Peter van der Vorst has blocked a possible return for years, but now someone else holds sway at RTL 4, namely Peter Lubbers, who was the boss of RTL 7 when the VI trio was still broadcasting there.
Good idea
Does this changing of the guard mean that RTL will again try to steal the VI trio from SBS? TV authority Tina Nijkamp would think it was smart. “Would it be a good idea for RTL to take over Today Inside? Yes, well, I think so. I think that is a very good idea,” she says in her podcast Tina’s TV Update.
She continues: “I never understood that Peter van der Vorst didn’t want it. Well, he now does something else at RTL and actually has nothing more to say about those schedules. Not that much anymore. And Peter Lubbers is a completely different man than Peter van der Vorst, so I would say: take it over, if necessary, just put it on RTL 7 every day.”
RTL 7 or RTL 4?
Then that channel also matters, says Tina. “Because they don’t have anything else now. They only have purchases. So do that! Or if RTL only wants the men on RTL 4, that’s completely fine. Then you will at least immediately have your talk show there if things don’t work out with Renze.”
She continues: “In any case, I would do everything in my power if I were Peter Lubbers to try to take over. It is simply a very successful talk show and you get a win-win situation because you make your own channel group stronger and you eliminate the competition to a large extent, because SBS 6 of course thrives on Today Inside.”
Hélène with you?
Who knows, they might also be able to take over De Oranjezomer by Hélène Hendriks, says Tina. “Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see how things go. I think the men of Today Inside really only want to be on RTL 4. I would want that too if I were those men.”
“How are they going to shape that? If Lubach is moved to Videoland, then you may already have it. Anyway: that puzzle is up to them, but I would at least make a phone call about it.”
