C‘there is something ancestral about diving into water that has not been contained by concrete. No filters needed when the rock opens up to welcome thermal springs or pools of turquoise watercreating swimming pools where time seems to have stopped. The tourism trends for summer 2026 speak clearly: we look for places that offer physical and brutal contact with the land, preferring “wild-wellness” to traditional spas. But where to start? If our Tuscany offers jewels famous all over the world, there are corners of paradise in Mexico or Iceland that deserve an intercontinental flight. Here it is our selection of the 15 unmissable natural pools.
The charm of our home: Italian natural swimming pools
Our Maremma holds the first great treasure of Saturnia Mill Waterfallswhere the sulphurous water flows constantly at 37.5 degrees, creating white limestone pools immersed in perpetual steam. Moving to Puglia, the scenario changes and becomes more graphic in the Cave of Poetry in Roca Vecchiaan almost perfect circle carved into the Adriatic rock that invites you to discover the clearest side of Salento. Still in Tuscany, the secret is hidden in the Sienese woods, ai Baths of San Filippowhere the famous “Fosso Bianco” allows you to immerse yourself in limestone waterfalls and natural mud, regenerating your skin under the shade of the trees.

Between steam and ice: geothermal oases
The journey continues where the earth boils under your feet, as in Iceland, where the famous Blue Lagoon offers an almost unreal color contrastwith white steam dancing on milky blue water surrounded by fields of black lava. In Türkiye, however, white becomes absolute Pamukkale, a real “cotton castle” made of travertine terraces filled with hot water, which descend like petrified clouds towards the valley below. Mexico then responds with suggestions Grutas de Tolantongosmall pools set in the side of a green mountain that overlook an immense canyon, offering a unique perspective on high-altitude well-being.
Diving into the jungle: tropical sanctuaries
In tropical areas the silence is interrupted only by the flow of water, as happens in Cenote Ik Kil in Mexicoa sacred well surrounded by giant vines where swimming becomes a mystical and powerful experience. In Laos, the Kuang Si Falls enchant with one series of multi-level waterfallswhich form pools of such vivid turquoise that they seem hand-painted in the heart of the forest. In the Samoa Islands, however, you descend into the To His Ocean Trencha natural crater fed by the ocean and reachable only via a suggestive wooden staircase, while Mexico still amazes with the Cenote Dos Ojosabsolute paradise for those who love exploring underwater and transparent worlds.
Rock architecture, natural pools between adrenaline and fairytale
The force of nature often manifests itself through hard stone, as in Giola’s swimming pool in Thassosa lagoon suspended over the Aegean and protected by a shell of white rock that shines under the Greek sun. For those seeking extreme thrills, the destination is there Devil’s Pool in Zambia, located right on the edge of the Victoria Falls precipice, while in Texas theHamilton Pool Preserve welcomes visitors under a thousand-year-old dome with a fifteen-meter waterfall. In the Scottish Highlands, the atmosphere becomes fairytale at the Fairy Poolscrystalline pools at the foot of the mountains that seem to come out of a fantasy story, while in Madeira, the volcanic rocks of Porto Moniz they create safe pools where the Atlantic crashes nearby.

Whether we choose the enveloping warmth of Tuscany or the thrill of a Mexican cenote, these natural pools remind us that the purest beauty needs no filters, but only a pair of comfortable shoes and the desire to rediscover being part of nature.
