Jorginho explains the security incident at Lollapalooza as a misunderstanding – Roan is not to blame.
In March 2026, an incident involving singer Chappell Roan occurred at the Lollapalooza music festival in Brazil. At that time, a security employee is said to have aggressively intimidated footballer Jorginho’s 11-year-old daughter. The athlete then released a statement in which he expressed his outrage at what happened. The case made waves and brought Chappell Roan a lot of criticism. Now the matter is moving again as Jorginho has spoken out again.
New statement smooths things over
The matter now seems to have been resolved and peace has returned between the two. On April 14, 2026, the former Chelsea FC player posted another statement on his Instagram Story in which he looked back on the incident and made it clear that it was a “misunderstanding.” He now knows that the security guard did not represent the artist and therefore had nothing to do with the incident.
The Champions League winner’s statement said he reacted “in the heat of the moment” “after I learned that my child and my wife had been spoken to in an intimidating manner by an adult male security officer.”
“I reacted the way any father would,” he added. “My top priority is and always will be protecting my family, and that’s exactly what I did.”
Towards the end of the statement, he also said: “Ultimately this was a misunderstanding and I am pleased to be able to set the record straight. It was important to me that this was resolved fairly and accurately. I regret the impact this situation has had on Chappell Roan, Catherine, Ada and our family.”
What exactly happened?
In the situation at the time, Jorginho’s daughter walked past the 28-year-old’s table during breakfast in a hotel in São Paulo and smiled at her. The security guard then came to the family’s table and intimidated the girl so much that she began to cry.
The Brazilian published an initial statement in March: “A large security guard came to their table while they were still eating breakfast and spoke to both my wife and my daughter in an extremely aggressive manner. He said not to let my daughter ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people. Honestly, I don’t know at what point just walking past a table and looking to see if someone is sitting there can be considered harassment. The security even said he would file a complaint with the hotel submitting them while my 11-year-old daughter sat there and cried.”
A spokesman close to Chappell Roan told “NME” at the time that the security guard was not part of the singer’s entourage. As it now turns out, this information was correct. There has been no further statement from Chappell Roan yet.
