Time has passed slowly since Madonna released her tenth studio album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, in 2005. But the undisputed Queen of Pop has now provided the clearest confirmation yet that a successor is in the starting blocks.
On Tuesday, Madonna deleted her entire Instagram account, shared lyrics from the original album’s lead single, “Hung Up,” and updated her website, which has since flashed “Confessions II” across the screen.
A release date or further details were not given. However, Madonna has been hinting at the project since December 2024. (ROLLING STONE previously reported that a dance album was expected later this year.)
Reunion with Stuart Price
Last year, Madonna confirmed she would be back in the studio with Stuart Price – the producer behind the Grammy-winning original. In September she also signed another contract with Warner Records, where she began her career in 1982 under the Sire Records label.
“I’m putting my heart and soul into my new music and can’t wait to share it with you,” she wrote to her fans last February.
The “Confessions” sequel will be Madonna’s first album since 2019’s “Madame X.” A spokeswoman for Madonna did not initially respond to ROLLING STONE’s request.
