Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is considered one of the music industry’s most prestigious honors, having been bestowed upon numerous legends in the music business. The new members of the Hall of Fame were announced on April 14, 2026. Here is an overview of the most important information.
Oasis, Phil Collins and Iron Maiden are there
Traditionally, new Hall of Fame members are selected in several categories. The list of the main “Performer” category included 17 nominated artists, eight of whom received awards. The winners of the fan voting include big names like Oasis, Phil Collins, Sade and Billy Idol. Joy Division/New Order, Luther Vandross and the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan also join the list. The inclusion of the collective could spark discussions – Gene Simmons, for example, has repeatedly emphasized in recent years that, in his opinion, hip-hop artists do not belong in the Rock Hall of Fame.
The “Early Influences” category includes Fela Kuti, Gram Parsons, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte and Celia Cruz.
Musical Excellence includes Rick Rubin, Linda Creed, Arif Mardin and Jimmy Miller. Ed Sullivan will be honored posthumously with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Liam Gallagher makes peace with the Rock Hall of Fame
After the recording, Liam Gallagher spoke via X and emphasized how great an honor it was to now be part of the members. The Brit wrote: “I would like to thank everyone who voted for us – it’s a real honor. Ever since I was a little kid singing in the shower, I’ve dreamed of one day being inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame. It’s true what they say: Anything is possible when you have a dream. Oasis were nominated for the third time in a row after 2024 and 2025. Liam Gallagher made no secret of his displeasure at the lack of success over the last two years. He attracted attention with statements like the Hall of Fame is for “WANKER” or “Screw the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, it’s full of idiots.” Now the musician seems to have made peace with the institution.
It is also noteworthy that Great Britain was able to set a record with this round of inductions: never before have six artists or bands been inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time.
