With Felix Nmecha (until 2030) and Nico Schlotterbeck (until 2031), Borussia Dortmund was recently able to finalize the extension of two top performers, but BVB is still likely to face a major change in the summer of 2026. Now it’s coming to light where Borussia want to strengthen themselves and which top talent is said to have particularly impressed the club.
It is already clear that a trio of Salih Özcan, Niklas Süle and Julian Brandt will be turning their backs on BVB in the summer. The expiring contracts of the players mentioned will not be extended, replacements will probably have to be found. Although two new additions have already been made, the two 17-year-olds Justin Lerma and Kaua Prates, it remains to be seen whether the two South Americans will be an immediate reinforcement.
The “Bild” has now revealed that the Black and Yellows are continuing to explore the market.
Specifically, they are looking for “at least one central defender”, a player for the central midfield, a winger and, if Serhou Guirassy is released, a new nine.
BVB is hoping for homegrown talent
According to the newspaper, BVB is looking to Hertha BSC to strengthen its midfield headquarters. In Berlin, 16-year-old Kennet Eichhorn is one of the high-flyers of the current season. Dortmund should be one of the clubs where this development should arouse desire. The “fundamental interest” has been deposited, it is said.
However, Dortmund are also said to be flirting with an internal solution: their own talents Mussa Kaba and Enzo Duarte are probably confident of taking the next step and closing the gap in the central midfield.
It is still likely that Dortmund will try their luck with Eichhorn. The youngster can probably leave Berlin after the season for a fixed fee of ten to twelve million euros and is therefore extremely interesting.
However, the competition is said to be enormous. Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, FC Bayern, PSG, Manchester City and FC Barcelona are also said to have put out feelers.
